De magnifiques critiques sont apparues après la diffusion du show de la RTE "Centenary"  faisant toutes la part belle à l'interprétation de Colm de "One" , la chanson de U2

“According to social media, the performance of the night was given to Colm Wilkinson who sang quite simply and outstanding version of U2’s “One”. It was absolutely unbelievable and surely would be a worldwide hit if he was to release it.”

“The most moving part of Centenary, it is generally agreed, was Colm Wilkinson’s haunting performance of One by U2, during which portraits of ordinary Irish people were flashed on video screens. To a certain generation he was the consummate West End star, but Colm Wilkinson’s appearance at the Rising concert has won him a legion of new fans.

The simplicity and honesty of the moment was deeply affecting. It declared that, despite our differences, we were all of us Irish and on a journey together. But it was Wilkinson’s tingling delivery that truly took the performance somewhere special. A veteran of the stage, Wilkinson (71) will already be familiar to fans of classical music and musical theatre.

However, to a younger generation this may have been the moment they were introduced to the singer, who was born in humble circumstances in Drimnagh and has graced stages across the world.

Le moment le plus émouvant de Centenary , selon tous a été la superbe prestation de CW pour One de U2 , durant laquelle des portraits d'Irlandais ordinaires étaient projetés sur les écrans .

La simplicité et l'honnêteté du moment émouvait profondément. Déclarant qu'en dépit de nos différences nous sommes tous irlandais et nous vivons ensemble . Mais c'est la façon dont CW nous a délivré cette vérité qui a fait de cette performance quelque chose de spécial . Vétéran de la scène Wilkinson ( 71 ans ) est déjà familier aux fans de théâtre musical et de musique classique .

Cependant pour une jeune génération ce fut le moment de connaître le chanteur , qui est né humblement à Drimnagh et a parcouru et honoré les scènes à travers le monde ... "

Sur twitter ce fut les mêmes remarques , les mêmes éloges avec en plus l'étonnement de beaucoup , en particulier de la jeune génération , de voir et d'entendre CW chantait du U2 .

Pour ceux qui le suivent , ils savent sa capacité à chanter tous les styles et son amour de la musique en général  .  

Alors rien de bien étonnant à ce qu'il chante du U2 surtout qu'il avait déjà formidablement interprété un morceau de ce groupe .
